I grew up in New York (go Jets/Mets) with family, culture, and music at the center of my world. Early on, I picked up a guitar with dreams of playing alongside Keith Richards for the Rolling Stones. And although the rebel-outlaw-guitar-player-thing was appealing to me, I found myself moved by black and white imagery and photography, as much as guitars and Rock n’ Roll.
I begin to explore the world of picture taking, when a twist of fate takes me to Los Angeles and an opportunity to work with famed celebrity photographer, Douglas Kirkland. The next few years finds me traveling the world with Douglas, and working on some of the biggest motion picture and advertising campaigns of the day. With the world of music and photography being my two passions, it occurred to me that I could get closer to the Stones with my camera than with my guitar. I started photographing musicians, building a body of work that has found a place of prominence in the record industry and entertainment business.
While my guitar remains a trusted companion, my camera is the window through which I view the world around me and find creative expression. I am passionate about observing people and finding that moment where their spirit is revealed, and their story is told. My enduring fascination with the complexity of the human condition keeps my work exciting…and my therapist rich. And though I’ve yet to shoot Keith, my career has taken me to interesting places with creative and talented individuals and continues to evolve in ways I can never predict.
